Life Groups

LWML Greater Detroit English District Zone Spring Rally at Christ the King Saturday, May 4th! Join us for a joyful morning filled with love, laughter, devotion, a servant event, music and lunch. Come and worship with us, and hear Elizabeth Parrish, DCE Intern and Sue Riske, serving Camp Restore at Mt. Calvary Lutheran, Detroit, who will speak and entertain us as we learn of the great mission work that is being accomplished here on Detroit’s East Side. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry here at Christ the King.
As part of LWML’s outreach, women’s health kits will be assembled to take to the LWML Convention in Alabama. Each congregation of our circuit/LWML Zone is contributing a health item for the kit, which will be given to homeless women in shelters which house, educate, and care for their medical needs. Many of these women are victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and abandonment and come to the shelters with literally nothing but the clothes on their back. They need much compassion, support, and mercy. Christ the King’s role will be to gather brand new bath towels, into which washcloths, women’s personal supplies and toiletries will be wrapped into bundles and made ready for those in need.
Our initial goal is to collect at least 32 large bath towels (we hope to collect even more!). Can you help? Please purchase a nice, new bath towel that you would personally like to receive, please leave the merchant’s tag on the item, and bring it to our collection point here at Christ the King before May 3rd. We will collect the towels in the Library in a box marked for this purpose near the fireplace.
Come and be a part of this morning of Lutheran Women in Mission. Pastor Boelter will lead worship, Janet Stechholz and Sue Boyle will lead the meeting, and a nice luncheon is planned in our Library at 12:00 Noon. All women of our congregation of ALL AGES are welcome and encouraged to attend this event. Please register your attendance with Margaret Rogensues at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 1-586-596-5718. A $10.00 registration fee will include your lunch! See you there!
